How to test for drugs at home and the varieties of tests purchasable. Occasionally drugs are a tough subject in a lot of house holds. As you know drugs are illegal and the penalties for either possessing them or having them in your system can be drastic. There are a lot of types of drugs, often with a lot of ‘street’ names which makes them harder to classify, by non-users, in conversation.
The most common drugs used are:
•Cannabis – weed, marijuana, draw, hash, puff
• Cocaine – crack, charlie, coke
• Methamphetamines – E, ecstasy, MDMA
• Amphetamines – whiz, dexies, speed, uppers
• Opiates – morphine, codeine, heroin,
• Benzodiazepines – downers, tranx
• Methadone
Testing for these drugs at home
The main varieties of drug test are urine tests, saliva (or oral) tests and hair tests, each test shows different time frames of usage; a hair test shows usage over months, urine tests show the use of drugs over days and saliva sample tests show if drugs have been used within hours.
There are many different drug test kits available to buy; there are single cassette urine tests, which are sometimes used to test someone for cocaine, for testing cannabis and opiate testing etc. There are test cups which test for many types of drugs in one go, there are also saliva tests which also tests for several types of drug. There are also hair tests which can test for a variety of of drugs, unfortunately these are usually dear and they cannot be done at home.
What can you do if you think a family member has taken drugs?
For starters it is crucial to have a chat with them and talk to them about it, try not to get angry and explain that you are afraid for their health. If the person denies taking drugs but you still have a strong belief that they are, challenge them to do a drugs test to confirm they aren’t on drugs. But, if they take drugs they are less likely to do it readily and unfortunately a lot of tests need the person’s cooperation. In this situation it is best to get advice from an expert.
