All about Drug Testing for Companies
Drug testing for companies is expanding rapidly in the United Kingdom. This is because of heightening social conciousness of the noteable health problems associated with drug use in the workplace.
The core difficulty is that drug and alcohol use is a feature of society. Most employers now test their employees for drugs and alcohol as a method to raise safety within the workplace. .
On-site urine drug testing kits are a commonplace item in many companies. They enable you to test a urine sample for many drugs in minutes and they are accurate, easy to use and relatively cheap. Negative results show up within a minute, however positive results need up to 5 minutes. The great benefit of working with an on-site urine test is the promptness. However for a positive result to stand up in court, the sample must be sent to a lab to be tested further to determine the amount of drug present and if the positive could possibly be caused by any medication.
Hair Testing
Hair testing can expose drug abuse for a long period of time and is often measured in months, however its possible to test for drugs for as long as the hair has been growing. Hair usually grows at a rate of 1cm per month, thus a 3cm sampleof hair produces a 3 month past. The down side to hair testing is the cost, it costs in excess of £45 to test the hair for just one drug!
Drugs testing based upon saliva are designed to be as non-invasive as possible. One issue is that oral tests just detects drugs for hours. You need a high amount of drug in your body for it to come through into your mouth in a big enough quantity to be detected. And so, keeping an eye on abstinence is difficult.
